My Gold Jewellery - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Hello there, how are you?

How’s your week gone, if it’s anything like mine … fast!

I popped into town on Tuesday to take a pair of trousers back and wore a lovely outfit befitting the weather on that morning ... of so I thought!  I picked some white jeans a tan thin jumper, my tan jacket and my favourite little dolly shoes that have holes all over them - they are cutout style &  I topped this all off with my tan bag and gold jewellery.  I'd planned to take a photo when I got home and even got a lovely compliment from a shop assistant as to how nice the outfit looked and that I'd given her ideas.  I told her about the jacket, that she particularly liked, about how I'd spotted it in Matalan maybe a year or so ago and showed my daughters - they both didn't like it so stupidly (or maybe not) I didn't buy it!  Fast forward a few weeks and upon browsing the sale rail in there found my size for only £10!  Well you can imagine I grabbed it and headed for the tills! It's one of those jackets that goes with just about everything as it's a classic style and neutral colour and knock me down as my daughter now borrows and loves it!  Mums do know best don't they!
I returned the trousers and exchanged them for a thick tee shirt, they were the same price which I was quite surprised about! Any way back to the story. The rain was getting heavier and heavier with most of the shoppers huddling in doorways trying to evade the rain! I was on a tight timescale so couldn't wait and made my way back to the car, trying to avoid the puddles and broken guttering that had huge showers of water just gushing down from them! I got completely soaked even using my umbrellas which I soon worked out had a hole in the middle so the top of my hair was very wet! I made it back to the car and with wet feet which I took out of my shoes drove home to warm up and dry off.  Guess what?  As I drove home the rain was non-existent in parts and by the time I reached my house it was totally dry!  No rain at all!! Fuming to say the least and made me think either home shopping next time - which I'm coming round to or a trip to Bluewater which is undercover!

Whilst driving the other day I got to thinking about my jewellery. I don’t have much and most of it is gold. I’ve got 6 gold rings of which I wear 5 of them all the time. I have an engagement ring which is three diamonds and wedding ring both of which we bought in Hatton Garden, London. They were bought back in the 80’s, but since getting them I’ve been lucky enough to get two more diamond bands and a solitaire diamond. I don’t feel I need any more and wear these all the time. I get why people take them off and on when washing hands and applying cream but since thinking I’d lost the solitaire a few years ago - I never take it off now, but get them all cleaned frequently.

(I would wear it on a night out and maybe take it off when I got home (if I remembered & hadn't had too many glasses of fizz) but sometimes I used to keep it on. I took one of the boys to a footy match and standing about in the cold thought it had slipped off. I scurried around looking for it on the pitch side and even rang home! Alas I couldn’t find it and I was devastated! Once I’d got home I looked in my jewellery box and found it sitting in there! Phew, the relief was strong.)

My other ring is one I wear very occasionally, but love it just as much - it’s a pavĂ© ring that David bought me for Christmas a few years ago. Occasionally I reach for it when I feel like a change which is normally when I’m off out in the evening.  This is a similar style and is very reasonably priced.

What sort of rings do you wear? Do you mix up your metals or keep them all the same. I know a lady who’s got a lot of rings with all different precious stones in them, and she wears them all! Not my cup of tea I’m afraid, I like to keep things similar and clean cut.

My other gold is limited too, by choice I might add. I don’t have much and tend to wear it at the same time. I’ve got a gold sovereign that’s a bit marmite - you’ll either love it or hate it. My husband’s family came from the East End of London and all wore them, so I wanted one too. I wear it now layered with a thinner gold chain and a chunkier version that isn’t real gold and cost about £20 in Sicily last year. I’ve got another that I bought for a couple of pound from Shein, I wear it layered lots of the time and if I’m honest would really like one made of gold and real pearls! I’m on the lookout for that one, so let me know if you spot one!

I’ve got lots of gold earrings and mainly wear my pearls but do change them around occasionally. I’ve got hoops of various sizes, studs, drop styles and fancy fashionable styles. I’ve got a plastic box which has little compartments in it to keep them separate it’s quite handy to be able to see them and keep them paired up!

Finally I have about four bracelets, one of which is a bangle and I stack them together because it’s a popular look and I love the individuality of them. The bangle has a clasp to keep it safely fastened, which I’d recommend if you’re ever looking for one. I’ve got quite wide knuckles so find it almost impossible to get a normal bangle on. Having one that opens, closes and has a safety fastening is a really good idea. I’ve found this beautiful example if you’re looking for one. The other gold bracelet has an old fashioned ‘T’ bar fastener which hooks through the end of the chain bracelet & isn’t un-similar to the popular Tiffany chains.

  1. I absolutely love jewellery. I’m definitely a more is more kind of person. I wear rings on 6 fingers, multiples on a couple. I mix gold, precious stones and silver without a care. I wear all silver bangles on one wrist and beads and a watch on the other. Sometimes I’ll wear a leather cuff from Mulberry. Earrings I tend to mix up between gold, silver or costume depending on my mood. At the moment I’m layering silver necklaces with pendants, other times I change my mind and layer my gold, which includes a locket that was my grandma’s. I am a magpie!! Xx
